More academic honors for wrestlers

Five DHS students were recently named to wrestling publication/website The Guillotine's Academic All-State Team. Points for all juniors and seniors in the state were tallied based on current varsity wins, current state tournament placement, and cumulative high school GPA.

Delano's representatives included Edward Hajas on the second team (34-5 record, third at state, 3.76 GPA), and third-team members Matt Baker (29-7, 4.0 GPA), Tanner Kroells (34-4, fifth at state, 3.61 GPA) and Reier Sjomeling (25-9, sixth at state, 4.0 GPA). Tyson Kroells (32-9, 3.75 GPA) earned honorable mention honors.

That recognition isn't a surprise. Earlier this year Delano was named the Class 2A Academic Team Champion, meaning that out of 96 programs the team had the highest grade point average among the top 10 individuals on the section wrestling roster. The team's collective GPA was 3.83.

Head coach Jeff Olson called the group "great representatives of Delano student athletes." Congrats, Tigers!
