Hearing Screening Equipment Donated to DPS

Thanks to donations from the Delano Lions, Loretto Lions, Knights of Columbus and B's on the River, Delano Public Schools received two Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) that measure hearing loss. This new technology helps detect hearing problems in young children by measuring soundwaves that bounce off a child's eardrum. During a hearing test, children no longer have to identify low and high pitched sounds to determine hearing loss like older Audiometers. These OAE's will be used primarily with preschool and elementary children, but can be used districtwide and in our local parochial schools for anyone displaying signs of hearing loss.
