Third Grade Music

Hello Third Grade Families!

In third grade music we hone in on student’s ability to read and write in traditional music notation. We will work a lot on our Orff instruments in the fall, and in the spring we will dive into the exciting (and noisy) world of recorders! Students will use their knowledge of musical elements to compose their own musical segments! I believe in lots of movement, and we focus on mindfulness and self-regulation in my classroom.

You might hear that your child has been selected as the “Bravo Student.” Each day I choose one student who stood out as a great leader and example during class. I watch for students to actively participate, control their bodies, and enjoy making music! If your child is picked, you can feel proud that they are making great choices! Following being selected, they get to spend the next class as my music helper!

I hope to post pictures of our fun throughout the year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rosholt

This is one of my favorite games in 3rd grade! It's a great song for learning our "tika-tika" rhythm (4 sixteenth notes strung together), and everyone is active and joyful!
