The 2026 School Board Elections will include four (4) open seats, each with a 4-year term.

Qualifications

Candidates for an elected school board office must:

• be eligible to vote in Minnesota
• be at least 21 years old upon assuming office
• have maintained residence in their district for at least 30 days before the general election
• have not filed for another office at the upcoming primary or general election (unless authorized by Minn. Stat. 367.033)
• have not been convicted of an offense for which they are required to register as a predatory offender under Minn. Stat. 243.166

File an "Affidavit of Candidacy" with the school district at 700 East Elm Street, Delano.

• Filing Period: July 14- July 28
• Filing Fee:  $2.00
• Deadline to withdraw:  July 30

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the period for filing affidavits of candidacy for the office of school board member of Independent School District No. 659 shall begin on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, and shall close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The general election shall be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.  At that four (4) members will be elected to the School Board for terms of four (4) years each.

Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district, Independent School District 879, 700 East Elm St, Delano MN, 55057. The filing fee for this office is $2. A candidate for this office must be at least 21 years old, must be an eligible voter, must be a district resident for at least thirty (30) days, must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election, and must not be a convicted sex offender.

The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5 p.m. on July 28, 2026.
