Mr. Mike Dailey is the 5-6 Band Director at Delano Intermediate School. He is also the director of all three jazz bands in the high school.

Mr. Dailey attended high school in Bemidji, MN. While in high school Mr. Dailey was active in Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Pep Band, Marching Band and ensembles. His high school band director was Mr. Terry Bradley. Mr. Dailey's primary instrument is the trumpet.

Mr. Dailey attended Bemidji State University for his undergaduate studies. His trumpet professors were Mr. Dan Thornton and Dr. Paul Morton. The University band directors who were extremely influential in his career were Dr. Tom Swanson and Dr. Jeff Macomber. All of Mr. Dailey's jazz studies were completed under the direction of Dr. Steven Konecne. While in college Mr. Dailey performed many solos with both the Concert Band and Jazz Band. In additon to the main performing groups Mr. Dailey was also in a brass quintet, jazz quartet, madrigal brass and the "Red Line Swingers" pepband.

Mr. Dailey graduated in 1998 and accepted his first position that fall in the Mahnomen Public School district. In Mahnomen Mr. Dailey was in charge of the entire 5-12 instrumental program which included: 5-6 elem. band, 7-8 junior high band, 9-12 sr. high band, 6-9 jr. high jazz band and a 9-12 sr. high jazz band. Mr. Dailey taught in Mahnomen from 1998 until 2006 when he accepted the position at Delano Middle School. In 2008 Mr. Dailey completed his masters degree in education from St. Mary's University.

Mr. Dailey has a wide variety of playing experiences; Community Bands in: Bemidji, Park Rapids, Ulen-Hitterdahl and Waconia. Big Bands in Bemidji, Park Rapids, Detroit Lakes and Chaska. He has played with the 9th District Legion Band and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. He currently performs with the Buffalo Community Orchestra and the Jazz Hounds Big Band out of Waconia. Mr. Dailey has played trumpet for many musicals including: "The Sound of Music", "Guys and Dolls", "The Music Man", "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Brigadoon". Mr. Dailey has played for many weddings, church services and had the honor of playing "Taps" for many veterans funerals.

Mr. Dailey is a member of both the Minnesota Music Educatior's Association(MMEA) and the Minnesota Band Directors Association(MBDA). He served on the executive board of MBDA from 2008-2010 as the state treasurer.

Mr. Dailey's wife, Stephanie, is the high school band director in the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted District. Mr. Dailey has three children, Owen- a student at Bemidji State,  Dawson- a student at the U of M and Jenna-a junior in Delano High School.
