Welcome to a brand new school year! My name is Erin Olson, and I would like to welcome you to the fifth grade. This is my 19th year of teaching, with 17 of those years being here in 5th grade at Delano Schools. I am originally from Maple Grove, MN and graduated from Osseo High School in 2000. In 2004 I received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K-6) with a minor in Communication Arts and Literature (5-8) from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I earned my Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in May of 2008.

My husband is in fact “Mr. Olson” the 5th grade teacher. We have a son, Liam, who is also in 5th grade at DIS and 5 year-old twins, Brant and Eilee who are excited Kindergarteners.  Over the summer I enjoyed traveling as a family to Duluth and Northern Minnesota, being outside, reading lots of books, sleeping in, swimming, exploring all the local parks, taking bike rides, drinking iced coffees, and watching Liam play lots of baseball. Brant and Eilee “played” t ball this summer too - I think maybe the dirt was the most exciting part?

I am really looking forward to getting to know both you and your child this year.  It is my goal for us to work cooperatively alongside one another to help your child reach their highest potential.  In the classroom, my goal is to build strong relationships with each student, build their character, instill a love of reading, and watch them be curious and learn many new things along the way.

Let's make it a great year!
