Mr. Koets graduated from Central High School in Pipestone, MM. While attending high school he participated in football, wrestling, tennis, choir, and of course band where he first learned to play the tuba. He took his tuba playing skills on the road in the summers of 90' and 91' and 94' to perform with a DCI Drum Corps: the Blue Knights of Denver, CO.

Following high school graduation Mr. Koets attended Bemidji State University and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Instrumental Music. While attending BSU he performed with the University Band, University Orchestra, Jazz I, Jazz II, Madrigal Brass, EuphoTuba, and many other brass ensembles.

In 1997 Mr. Koets accepted his first teaching position at ROCORI High School in Cold Spring, MN. Teaching duties included 7th grade band, 8th grade band, 9 - 10 band, 11-12 Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Musical Director, and Middle School Marching Band. He also helped with the Drum Line and Winter Guard.

Mr. Koets started teaching at Delano in 2005. Assignments include 7th Grade Band, 8th Grade Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, the musical Pit Orchestra, Guitar Club, and Marching Band.

He has a wife Penny who teaches elementary music at Delano Elementary, a son Cole and a daughter Kiersten. When Mr. Koets is not in the classroom he is probably camping, riding bike, or working on an old VW Bus.
