Delano Public Schools need your time and talent!! Whether you work in or outside the home, there are many opportunities to be involved. This booklet describes many of the volunteer opportunities in our schools this year. Whether you have just a few hours a year or several a month, we can help you find something that is a match for your skills and time constraints. By choosing to participate, you demonstrate your commitment to your childs education as well as making a positive impact in our schools.
Please fill in the Sign-Up sheet on the last page of the booklet and then return it to the school. For your convenience, we have also included a partial copy of the sign-up sheet so that you may record your volunteer commitments and be able to refer to it during the year.
Please be sure to carefully read the school Volunteer Guidelines and check off that you have done so on the Sign-Up sheet. These guidelines have been set up for the safety of both students and volunteers.
You will be contacted as the different programs are set up or the opportunities occur. We truly appreciate each and every contribution, and thank you for offering your precious gift of time to our schools.

Volunteer Guidelines
Confidentiality
As you work with staff and students, remember that the problems, abilities, relationships and confidences of students, their parents and the staff should never be discussed with anyone other than a professional staff member of our school district. If you have concerns, please discuss them with the teacher or principal.
Discipline
Students rarely have behavior problems while working with volunteers. However, if this does happen, please make the teacher aware of the situation. The responsibility for discipline rests with the professional staff. REPORT&emdashDONT ENFORCE!
Dependability
Both teachers, children and/or Partners In Education (P.I.E.) have planned their day/event for you to be there to help. Please call the school if you will be late or absent.
Dependability is more important than any specialized skill!
Volunteer Information
Volunteer Sign-in Procedure
Each volunteer is required to sign in and out at the school office. We want to keep track of who is volunteering and the number of hours that are volunteered in our schools. It is important for the principal to know who is in the school. Also, please record your car's make, color and license number so the parking lot supervisor will know our car belongs to a volunteer.
Volunteer Name Badges
You are required to wear a volunteer name badge when you are in the school. Your name badge can be picked up from the school office when you sign in. This will enable the staff to recognize you as a registered volunteer and an important part of the school's education team.
This is also a part of our safety policy to help ensure the security of our school.
Questions/ Comments
We want your volunteer time at Delano Public Schools to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the volunteer coordinators office at 763-972-3365, ext. 2333.
