Health update #2

Posted on: Mar 9, 2020

With spring break underway, we have received a number of questions regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), quarantines and travel.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is maintaining a list of countries with travel advisories. At this point, only travelers from Level 3 countries need to stay away from school for 14 days after traveling back home. Although this list may be updated at any time, the only countries currently at Level 3 due to COVID-19 are China, South Korea, Iran and Italy. Travel to countries not on this list will not result in any delays in returning to school.

Delano Public Schools continues to review its plans and procedures, and is closely following updates from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the CDC. Still, it is important to note that as of today there are no confirmed cases of the virus in Minnesota, and common-sense wellness steps like hand-washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when ill are the best ways to prevent the spread of this virus.

For additional information, see MDH’s COVID-19 website and the CDC’s COVID-19 website.
