DHS holds 125th commencement

Two hundred members of the Class of 2019 were honored in Delano High School's 125th commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 2, in the Tiger Activity Center. 

Honor Five students recognized at the beginning of the program included Gretchen Wuerger, Emily Olson, Lydia Ramstad, Samson Streachek and Nicole Pupp. 

Student speakers included Grace Popp, who reflected on the journey through Delano schools, and Chad Kestner, who encouraged graduates toward a bright future. Lucius LaFramboise also addressed the crowd to explain his arrangement of "Class of 2019: The Best," which was the feature piece performed by the band. It incorporated favorite tunes from fifth grade -- played with appropriate fifth-grader foibles -- through high school. 

Jacob Praska, Caden Link, Gabriella Paskach and Mya Johson also took the stage to share messages during the "Remember Me" feature by Sound Revolution.

Trent Peterson and Aili Barta received American Legion School Citizenship Awards, and Ben Bersie was recognized for perfect attendance during his high school career in grades nine through 12.

Band director Jason Koets gave the faculty address and encouraged students to either continue their work in the arts or explore the arts for the first time as a way to enrich their future.
