Assistant Principal's Message
Greetings from Delano Middle School! I can hardly believe that MEA break has already come and gone. Our students and staff along with our parents and families work very well together as an effective team. The main reason for our success is our excellent communication with each other.. Thank you for listening and expressing any concerns that you have. That’s how we improve.
As promised, I am introducing a helpful resource parents can utilize at home with their student to practice on areas needing improvement indicated by your student’s performance on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCA). This tool is called Pearson Perspective. It is a program to help identify substrand concepts in reading, math and science from the MCA results using the Learner Locator Number assigned to the student This number can be found in the MCA results letter that your student received or was mailed home in late August. This program can help pinpoint areas of needing improvement and provide practice problems and activities. I have posted three online Pearson Perspective links on our Delano Middle School Website under “Testing Information” to assist parents in beginning to explore this valuable tool. A parent packet and one-page access guide are available to make it easy to understand how to navigate the site and begin your journey in helping your student improve their understanding of key concepts assessed on the MCAs.
Our DMS Tiger Pride Recognition Assembly will take place in the high/middle school gym on November 22, 2016 from 2:00 to 2:40 pm. We will be recognizing nominees from trimester one. The categories are Hall of Fame, Citizen of the Month and Tiger Pride. The hardworking students of GROWL will showcase their video journalistic skills with a recap of student life and highlights from this past fall. Our student council will perform a skit with a positive behavior theme and the high school choir group, Sound Revolution will perform. It will be a wonderful celebration and middle school parents are invited! We hope to see you there to help us recognize students for the positive contributions and choices they make each day.
Thank you for allowing us to serve your students. It is an exciting time to be a Delano student, educator, parent and community member!

Here's a little background about Mr. Schauberger:
I graduated from Fairmont (MN) High School and I am the youngest of seven children. I taught German for 15 years in Hutchinson, MN and maintain my strong interests in world languages, gifted and talented education, traveling, and teaching. Before joining the Delano Team, I was the Dean of Students at Dassel-Cokato High School for six years and the High School Principal at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop for two years. My wife, Lea, is a school speech-language pathologist and I have two sons that I am very proud of. Quality education, maintaining positive relationships, and celebrating achievements (having fun!) are all very important to me.
