These courses are introductory courses designed to teach students fundamental computer concepts as well as include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. This course will briefly cover email, Internet and Windows file management, as the course prepares students for a computerized work place.
 
Prerequisite: None
Lecture 20%, Lab 80%
 
Performance Objectives
  1. Identify and become familiar with components of a computer system through the use of hands-on assessments.
  2. Demonstrate a knowledge of the Internet and email essentials though practical use of those components.
  3. Produce basic documents using the fundamentals of Microsoft Office Word.
  4. Apply basic elements of Microsoft Office Excel to create a series of electronic spreadsheets.
  5. Demonstrate basic data management skills using Microsoft Office Access to design and modify multiple database files.
  6. Integrate creativity and technological presentation tools using Microsoft Office PowerPoint to prepare an effective business presentation.

Classroom Policies
1.      Be on Time
2.      Come Prepared
3.      Do Quality Work and Do it On Time
4.      Internet/Games – Can NOT be used during class time – except for internet use for assigned class activities.
a.       1st Violation – 5 point deduction
b.      2nd Violation – 10 point deduction
c.       3rd and Subsequent Violations – 10 point deduction + Detention
5.      In the event that a student is finished with all assigned work, that student should work on class work from other courses. If that class work requires internet use, the student must get permission from the instructor to use the internet during class time for that activity.
6.      Restroom Use – Get permission from instructor before leaving.
