Delano Elementary School houses 770 students from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, averaging 22 to 23 students per classroom for 2011-2012.

Test Scores
Our Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment scores consistently rank among the highest in the state, reflecting the outstanding academic achievement of students at Delano Elementary. (See information below.)
Parent Involvement
Delano Elementary also has a strong parental support program which is provided through the local parent-teacher organization, as well as a large cadre of parent volunteers. The elementary school has averaged over 6,000 hours of volunteer time per year.
Curriculum
The educational program offers a coordinated curricular program including math, reading, written language, spelling, social studies and science. Students also receive instruction from specialists in the areas of physical education, music and media skills, as well as technology.
Computers/Technology
Students receive experience with computers through the use of classroom computers and three computer laboratories. The elementary is in the process of installing SMART boards and sound field systems in classrooms over a five year span.
Enrichment
Several programs are available to challenge high potential students. The Tiger's Tale publishing center allows students to turn their own creative stories into books that have a professionally published look. The Math Lab extends and enriches skills taught through classroom instruction.
Programs for High Potential Students
An organized Gifted and Talented program, with a teacher of Gifted and Talented students, offers several opportunities for students beyond their classroom. Destination Imagination, Continental Math League, and other unique units of instruction, designed specifically for high potential students, are available.
Specialized Instruction
Title I and Basic Skills programming, as well as specific Special Education Programs, provide specialized instruction for students experiencing academic difficulty in their classrooms.
Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment Test Scores
Our scores on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment II (MCA II"s) test are among the highest in the state. The following information compares Delano Elementary third and fourth grade test results with the state average third and fourth grade test results. Level I is the lowest level and Level IV is the highest level. The goal is to have the highest percentage of students score at levels III and IV. Level III is considered to be "grade level" performance.
