Hello! My name is Mrs. Schmidt and I have been teaching in the Delano School District for 27 years. Before that I was teaching preschool full-time in Rockford and Hanover. I came to Delano as a substitue teacher back in 1983. In 1984, I long-term subbed for Mrs. Workman who was on maternity leave. After that I taught second grade for three years. When I started my own family I began to job-share at the first grade level. I job-shared in first grade for many years while my own children were growing up. My favorite job-share partner was Mrs. Williams, who is now a second grade teacher at Delano. I went back to full time teaching in 2005 and have been in first grade ever since. Within those 27 years I also taught third grade for one year and long-term subbed in the special education area, but first grade is my absolute FAVORITE!!!

My husband Tom and I live out in the country on 15 acres outside of New Germany, which is a small town about 17 miles southwest of Delano. My husband is a tax account and owner of ShadowBrooke Golf Course in Lester Prairie. We have three sons Robert, Jonathan and Tyler. Robert, 25, graduated from Gustavus Adolphus and is currently working for CBRE as an accountant. He got married last summer to his beautiful bride, Kelsey and they live in Apple Valley. Jonathan, almost 23, got married two summers ago to Michelle and they have a one year old daughter, Naarah. Now they are expecting their second daughter in early November. They currently are living with Tom and myself and are in the process of looking for a house. Tyler, now 20, is in his second year at Bethel College in St. Paul.

In my spare time, which mostly occurs during the summer, I like to scrapbook, work outside on our yard and flower gardens, take care of the gardens at ShadowBrooke, cook/bake, and go for walks. This summer I've also been watching my granddaughter a lot, which has been so much fun! Another favorite summer activity is watching my whole family, including my husband, play in a weekly softball league, along with several cousins and friends. It's pretty cool to watch my "kids" play on the same team as their dad! Here are a few pictures of my family.
