Tigers headed to state tournament

After a section final win over Willmar, the Delano boys’ basketball team is headed to the Class 3A State Tournament this week.

The unseeded Tigers will play No. 3 Mankato East at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at Williams Arena in their opening game.

The rest of the Class 3A field includes No. 1 DeLaSalle, No. 2 Austin, No. 4 Columbia Heights, No. 5 St. Thomas Academy, Hermantown and Sauk Rapids-Rice.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game can be purchased at Williams Arena or at the high school activities office. Tickets are $14 for adults (no senior pricing) and $9 for K-12 students. Hours to purchase tickets (checks and cash only) are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday.

Students wishing to attend the game will be released at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. All students must provide a written note from a parent to be released; leaving a message on the attendance line or via email may delay release as a high volume of students are expected to leave early.

Due to the late afternoon game time, there is limited seating on fan buses. Two buses will be available for 100 students in grades 9-12 who wish to ride to and from Williams Arena. Information on reserving a place has been sent home to parents. Other students and families must make their own arrangements for transportation.
