DMS History Day Winners Advance to Regions

The National History Day competition is open to any student in grades 6-12, but is a required assignment for students in the advanced language arts class at Delano Middle School. The students work 3-4 months researching and developing their projects around a central theme and then choose a final product to display their knowledge of their topic. This year's theme, "Leadership and Legacy in History," was the inspiration for such local topics as; Mary Jo Copeland, Robert Gould Shaw, Virginia Apgar and Walt Disney. After a local competition, in which several community members were visiting judges, fourteen projects were selected to move on to the regional competition to be held at Mankato State University in March. Good luck students!
