DMS Documentary Wins National C-SPAN Award

7th graders Liliana Schroedl, Gretchen Ness and Naomi Thoelke produced a documentary about water pollution for their Advanced Language Arts class. In addition, they submitted it to C-SPAN's StudentCam contest, a nationwide contest that allows students across the country to learn about and teach others about contemporary issues. Their documentary was awarded third place, beating out roughly 2,800 other nationwide student-made films. In addition, they won $750 and were the only Minnesota documentary to place in this national contest.
